Bricks - Poliigon
Bricks - Poliigon

These are a selection of some of the brick materials I produced for Poliigon, and are a result of a hybrid photogrammetry/procedural workflow I was tasked with working on. The workflow involved taking fully 3D photo-scanned bricks, using the Substance 3D Designer model graphs to procedurally arrange instances of them into different layouts that seamlessly tile, then baking them down to a plane that's automatically positioned and scaled to ensure perfect tiling. The bricks all already had material information, so the process handles all the heavy lifting. Once baked, it's then just a case of procedurally generating the mortar and adding procedural variations to the colour and details to disguise the repetition of the finite number of bricks used to build the material. I think the results are pretty effective!

Big shoutout to Joe Kachnic who was responsible for the photo-scanned bricks used in these materials.
